When
the Harlem Globetrotters played at the Thompson Bowling arena in
Knoxville, Printroom.com hired me to do fan photography. The assignment
was to photograph as many fans as possible and distribute cards to help
them find their photos online. I practiced my stadium walking skills
mastered as a camera operator for Smokies Baseball. I was also
challenged to ask strangers if I could take their picture. By the end of
the night I had grown fearless. I was asking everybody. My pay was
based on how many photos I generated so it was a lot like selling
products at Blockbuster, ask everybody enough of them will say yes, and
if you try a little harder you can even convince the reluctant ones. I
also got to shoot a three on three game during the halftime show. I
believe the players were local radio personalities. I have done a lot
of sports video but not still photography. It was fun I hope I get the
opportunity again soon.
